28 Young Sporting Chancers were granted the opportunity to be a part of the first DHL Stormers Super Rugby home game of the season last Friday. This experience was an eye-opener for the youngsters from Elsies River who usually attend most of Sporting Chance’s projects and have high hopes of excelling in rugby and emulating the feats of their heroes.

The Sporting Chancers’ enthusiasm was matched by the electric atmosphere generated by the home- team locals, who turned out by their thousands at Sahara Park Newlands. The game itself proved to be a tense affair and kept everybody on their toes, with many biting their nails. The DHL Stormers’ eventual 1-point victory over their New Zealand rivals, the Hurricanes, made the tone of the evening even sweeter for the home team supporters. If this game is anything to judge by, we have an incredibly tight Super Rugby season ahead of us.

We would like to sincerely thank DHL and the DHL Stormers for making Sporting Chance a part of this exciting experience. The young Sporting Chancers in attendance were in awe and were left wanting more. The passion and will to win displayed by the DHL Stormers also left an indefinable mark on them all.
