<p class="MsoNormal">Six weeks of entertaining street cricket has culminated into one big day at this year’s Sporting Chance Street Cricket Championship Finals taking place on Thursday 26<sup>th</sup> November 2009, where all the winning regional teams will battle it out for the coveted trophy.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> </span></span><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">The program kicked off on 16 October and saw more than 3000 young children from disadvantaged communities participate in five weeks of round-robin fixtures followed by the regional finals. </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> </span></span><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">Not only did the program introduce children under the ages of 11 to the game of cricket, but also gave them the opportunity to meet one of South Africa’s favourite cricketing heros &#8211; Herschelle Gibbs.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> </span></span><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">Summoned from the school classroom as a 16-year-old to make his first-class debut in 1990, Gibbs has loved the game of cricket where he has played in every test nation cricketing country around the world, and enjoys putting back into the game he loves so dearly.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> </span></span><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">“I have played and enjoyed all levels of the game, but there is no greater joy and satisfaction than seeing the absolute passion these children have in playing cricket” said Gibbs.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> </span></span><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">“there is no doubt that we have hidden talent on our doorsteps here in the Cape, and with good coaching and mentoring there is no reason why these children cant make it all the way to the top.”</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> </span></span><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">The Street Cricket initiative which is in its sixth succesfull season, was played by children from Gugulethu, Khayelitsha, Kewzi, Nyanga, Langa, Elsies River, Langa, Atlantis, Mannenberg, Mitchells Plain, Ocean View, and Masipumelele in Cape Town.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> </span></span><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">Brad Bing, MD of Sporting Chance who started the first street cricket league in 2003 says the initiative has enjoyed unprecedented success since it humble beginnings as a pilot project in Langa.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> </span></span><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">“This year we’ve continued with our successful strategy of 15 teams, as we’ve noticed that the emerging communities are filled with sport mad children” said Bing.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> </span></span><span style="font-size: x-small; color: #000080; font-family: Arial;"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">Whilst many dignitaries are expected at the final on the eve of the ODI between South Africa and England, many of Cape Town’s professional players encourage all children to play outdoors. </span></span></p>

The kids had a fantastic time, learning sport specific skills, being educated about nutrition and goal setting and also making new friends. See below what a few parents had to say:</span></p>

Great long warm up/stretch sessions soon got rid of the first day&#8217;s stiffness and plenty of exercise during the day ensured he was asleep early each night.”</span></p>

This will take place in conjunction with the Lagunya Rugby club to promote the game of sevens in the community and give talented players the opportunity to be introduced to the game. The clinic is the start of a partnership between Sporting Chance and Mpho Mbiyozo whose aim is to give talented rugby players an opportunity that was afforded to him through the game. </span></span></p>

Despite the Southern Kings loss of<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>20-8, Sevens star Mpho Mbiyoza was awarded the Man of the Match award for his outstanding performance as openside flank.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Next Month Mpho will be passing on his expert skills to young aspiring Sevens Rugby players in the community of Nyanga. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: Verdana;">On the 14<sup>th</sup> of April 2009 Cape Town- Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) players Kumar Sangakkara, along with Brett Lee, Indian bowler Sreesanth, Ranadeb Bose and the owner of the Kings XI Punjab Bollywood actress Priety Zinta were all in Nyanga at Nyanga cricket stadium to Launch the club’s mobile fan club with mig33. Over 40 kids from St Mary’s Primary and Liwa Primary school from Nyanga got the opportunity to meet the players and get some much appreciated cricketing coaching</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: Verdana;"> on their batting, bowling and fielding from the players. These children are part of our Sporting Chance development foundation sports programme. The squad is an after schools cricket programme that aims to provide young cricketers with the basic cricket skills in a structured environment that promotes sustainability and talent identification. Sporting Chance has placed one of their highly skilled coaches Lucky Tywaku in both of these schools and he runs the cricket program on a weekly basis with support from Sporting Chance. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: Verdana;">“This is a massive opportunity for our young players to meet and be inspired by world renowned cricketers. Through the Sporting Chance development foundation sports programme and events like this we hope to encourage young players from the local community to actively participate in the sport.” says Brad Bing, managing director of Sporting Chance.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: Verdana;">To end off the day one of the young boys in the program got chosen to attend KXIP’s inaugural match against the Delhi Daredevils in Cape Town on 19 April.</span></p>
